Happy Monday Hurricanes!

We completed our first full week of swim practice and there were so many happy kids in the pool working hard. The coaches were doing a fantastic job making sure the kids were learning but having fun at the same time!

TWO IMPORTANT ITEMS TO COVER:

1. Our swim team needs Stroke & Turn Officials/Judges for the season as part of the 3-shift volunteer obligation. Each team provides two stroke/turn judges per ½ of the meet to ensure the meet is judged fairly and consistently. The stroke/turn judges report to the meet referee for final disqualification decisions. This is a critical volunteer position for our team and is essential for the meet to be run smoothly and fairly. This is the only volunteer position that involves a little training - you'll attend a short "certification" training (1 hour) via Zoom provided by the league to learn the rules of each stroke and what exactly constitutes a disqualification. There is no charge for it and once you sign up, the link will be emailed to you. The online training takes place on May 15^th or May 21^st (you do NOT need to attend both) from 7-8. Another option would be to complete the training via strokeandturn.com and email us your completion certificate. There is a charge for the class, but the swim club will reimburse you the expense if you send us your completion certificate and receipt.

2.  We are still looking for a Meet Entry/Scorer. We currently have one parent who is responsible for the meet entry & scorer position, but we do need someone else to assist her and learn the responsibility so when she wraps up her time as a parent committee volunteer, we can have someone trained in that role. It's also great to have two parents for these two roles. The great thing about volunteering as a parent committee member is that it fulfills your 3-time volunteer obligation!
