Important Reminders about the Championship Meet
Good morning Hurricanes!
Below is a message from Mike Sansavera, the chairman for the Lone Star Summer League. He has asked that the entire team be sent out the following information:
Good Day. Beginning this Saturday we will host our 24th Summer League Championship Meet. I want to thank all the reps and all the volunteers that have helped our league be the best in South Texas. The success of our Executive Board and the All the reps over the years has established an organization that serves over 3,000 athletes. Many of whom go to NEISD schools and many that join club teams in our city that will continue to swim in this facility in the future with their club teams and high school teams. I want to emphasize that we are renting this facility. So it is important that you stress to your spectators from your teams the following statement. NEISD has it's facility rules. The Lone Star Summer Swim League has it's rules to produce a fun and safe environment for all the swimmers, coaches, parent volunteers and NEISD staff. "We take the safety and well-being of our staff and patrons seriously.
We will not tolerate any form of physical or verbal assault. Any individual found engaging in such behavior will be removed from the facility and may face legal action."
This statement is set by NEISD. The Lone Star Summer League has rules and regulations for the operation for the meet and we must also adhere to the NEISD guidelines. So please take this seriously.

Assistant Coaches can take over the remainder of the warm up and getting your relays lined up and ready to go. It is the responsibility of the Head Coaches to facilitate this with your Assistant Coaches and your parent ready bench volunteers at your team area.
Make sure you read all the rules and regulations for the Champs meet so everyone adheres to those rules.
At any time while on deck no parents or adults may enter the locker room facility. Swimmers may only use the locker room facility to use the rest room and or change. Please make sure you tell your swimmers this rule. If I see or a NEISD personnel sees swimmers in there for no reason or horse play they will be escorted out to their coach.
DOOR MONITORS: All door monitors MUST stay at their station until relieved by their other team volunteer. Please do not leave your post. Please arrange this switch to happen so you can see your child swim, then retain your position until the exchange of shifts.
Only teams (swimmers, coaches, and parents with badges are allowed on the deck. If you don't have all your kids, please leave a coach outside the pool deck area to retrieve and bring those kids on deck. Parents are not allowed to be on deck with a pass ever. NEISD Swim Meet Policy. Parents of little ones are going to want to walk them over. They cannot. A coach must walk kids who are late. So gather your team outside and check everyone in. Late athletes can walk on to the deck. But the little ones are the ones who may need help and be escorted by a coach.
HEAT SHEETS: Once the Heat Sheets are posted on the website they are there for the taking. Encourage your parents and workers to make a copy for themselves. We will not be selling any heat sheets.
BLEACHER OVERFLOW: The Davis Pool will be open for parents to take a break from the competition pool bleachers. The scoreboard will be on so they know what heat is swimming. It will be much cooler in that pool. Please let your parents know they have that option so they don't have to sit in crowded bleachers the whole time.
OUTSIDE FOOD AND DRINKS: There is no food or drinks allowed in the facility. You may bring an empty cup only and may fill it up at the water stations located up by the bleachers or from the drinking fountains.
The clear bag policy is still in affect.
Parent Volunteers for Stroke and Turn and or meet referee. YOU MUST EMAIL RICK RUSSELL ASAP, ASAP, ASAP TO GET ON THE SCHEDULE FOR YOUR ASSIGNED DUTY. PLEASE GET THIS DONE ASAP!!!
HOSPITALITY: There will be a hospitality for the coaches and meet stroke and turn judges and referees and lifeguards or meet personnel. It will be located in the hallway on the northwest of the pool.
HEAT ADVISORY: There is a local Heat Advisory in AFFECT! Please be advised that people with asthma, breathing problems, underlying health issues, older people over 70 and younger children under 4 years old should not be in this kind of heat. They should probably not attend this meet for their safety. The outside temperature is going to be in the triple digits, 101, 102. The actual temperature on the floor deck will be in the high 80's and although they have the big fans which will be turned up all the way in the bleachers, it will still be hotter in the elevated bleacher area. Hydrate a lot before you come and wear light, dry fit kind of clothing to protect yourself.
There will also be cooling fans on the deck and 3 water stations to fill up your water bottles if you need to as a volunteer or athlete.
Thank you for your observance of this information.
Sincerely,
Mike Sansavera
League Chairman
